San Francisco Density

San Francisco is the second most densely populated city in the United States with 17,323 people/mi² but only has a population of 820,000 people with an approximate area of 7 miles by 7 miles (49 square miles).  Compare this with the city of Detroit with about the same population and an area of 143 square miles.
